The second practitioners’ workshop on Bringing Medicines to Low-Income Markets took place on October 18-19, 2012 in Berlin. The first workshop was held in January 2012.

These workshops are designed for representatives from pharmaceutical companies that are looking to start or continue expanding their business activities into low-income markets. Health-related NGOs, MFIs, insurance providers, and development agencies interested in exploring partnerships with the private sector to address health-related challenges in developing and emerging countries are also welcome to participate!

• An introduction to the unique challenges of low-income markets – and how to address them with promising approaches
• Guidance on developing (or enhancing) a business model that addresses low-income patients’ needs – and on how to find the right partners

The workshop builds on the findings from the study "Bringing Medicines to Low-Income Markets: a guide to creating inclusive business models for pharmaceutical companies”.

The agenda consists of 3 main parts:

Creating value with the 4As+1 Tool: How can I create value by bringing quality medicines to patients in low-income markets? What are the challenges in this market environment? What are promising approaches to overcome them?

Health ecosystem: How does the health ecosystem differ in low-income markets? How can I identify potential partners? How can we cooperate effectively?

Getting set up: How do I set up the right organizational structure for venturing into low-income markets? How do I secure financial resources? How do I set up partnerships?

The workshop is highly interactive and provides participants with excellent networking opportunities with other organizations.
